WRITING & HELPFUL TIPS
“I learned to always take on things I’d never done before. Growth and comfort do not coexist."
- Ginni Rometty
I don’t believe in drawing a line between the personal and professional sides of our lives. We live every day in the gray in-between, so here you’ll find my thoughts, advice, and tips on how to optimize both.
Marketing Lessons from Justin Timberlake
By providing sneak peeks to the album by releasing its singles, "Selfish" and "Drown," on social media before the full album release, Timberlake built anticipation and engagement among his audience. This method mirrors a content marketing strategy that emphasizes the value of releasing snippets of content to pique interest and maintain audience engagement over time.
Including Women Entrepreneurs: International Women’s Day
On this International Women's Day, let's commit to a future where women's businesses are valued and supported equally. Because when we inspire inclusion, we don't just lift women; we elevate our entire society.
Leadership Redefined: The Art of Making Everyone Feel Valued
The journey to becoming a leader who truly listens and connects with others is not without its challenges. It requires a conscious effort to remain humble and grounded, even as we ascend in our careers. The moment we begin to distance ourselves from those we serve is the moment we risk losing the very essence of leadership.
Focus on the Problem, or Focus on the Possibility
The day I closed on my own home was a sweet one.
Why “What Scares You” is a Good Interview Question
Facing fears helps us to grow. People who grow, learn. People who grow, inspire. People who grow innovate and bring new energy to your company.

Life Boats
A lifeboat can be seen as a metaphor for navigating the ups and downs of life. Just as a lifeboat is designed to keep us afloat during a crisis at sea, we too must find ways to stay afloat during the turbulent times in our lives.

Founders: Admit What You Don’t Know
Seek mentors, build a team of people who bring expertise to the table that you don't have. That often starts with looking at what you're NOT good at and admitting it - something a lot of founders struggle with.
Women Making History Today: Diane Hessan
Diane Hessan is a dynamic business woman, author, influencer, and angel investor who I had the pleasure of meeting at a networking event in Boston many years ago. Since that time, she’s been an unofficial mentor for me, as well as an ongoing inspiration to women in tech and highly regarded Boston business leader. She sits on the Boards of numerous companies, including Panera Bread, and is currently CEO of Salient Ventures and has been engaged in a wide-ranging longitudinal study of the American voter as a columnist for The Boston Globe.
Women Making History Today: Aliah Davis-McHenry
Life as a black woman in America is challenging as we are at the intersection of racism and sexism. The senseless deaths due to racism weigh heavy. Those, coupled with the everyday racism and microaggressions, make me feel helpless and fearful - especially as a mother. There are times (read: most of the time) I feel mentally and emotionally exhausted and angry but I have to push through and put on a brave face for work and at home.
Perspective As A Learning Tool
If you want to truly make the most of relationships - whether it be friendship, work-related, or romantic, you have to be willing to listen to another perspective and sometimes let go of some of your own preconceived notions to find a middle ground. Easier said than done, I know, but the truth is when we can open our minds to how others regard things, we benefit from the power of learning from others.
The Power of Connection
The power we have inside of us can go dormant sometimes. We forget what we are capable of until we have no other choice. The pandemic can be considered a bit of a restart on many levels - personally and professionally. It’s like going to college after high school - you have a chance to reinvent yourself and be whomever you’d like to be.
Learn to say “no”
Learning to say no is something that comes with experience. Women, especially, seem to grapple with saying no, as though it’s rude. But sometimes it’s necessary for self preservation and sanity.
Stubborn, much?
I love this quote. I’ve always been told that I am stubborn as though it is a negative thing, but this Josh Shipp quote puts a positive light on that stubbornness. For entrepreneurs especially, stubbornness is necessary. Well, most of the time.
