The Scituate community has rallied around Donovan and his family.

“Eric is the single most compassionate, loving and genuine person I have ever known,” said Donovan’s uncle, Michael Donovan.
“When he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma on his 15th birthday, there was fear and anxiety, but not an ounce of weakness or doubt. Just determination and motivation,” said Michael Donovan.

Donovan was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at the age of 15 and had a 30 percent chance of survival.
In the summer of 2009 he was declared cancer free.
Five weeks later, Donovan dove into the water at a Scituate beach and fractured his second, fourth and fifth cervical vertebrae, leaving him a quadriplegic.
“Eric is the strongest person I have ever met. He has proven himself before. He will do it again,” he said.
Roundtrip transportation will be provided for a $5 donation per person.
